Amazon’s ‘Lord of The Rings’ series has a new name
Tolkien fans are rejoicing as the long-awaited Lord of The Rings series receives another update, bringing it one step closer to completion. The new name for the series was revealed as “The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power.”
The series will take place thousands of years before the events of The Lord of The Rings, during the Second Age. The series will focus on the forging of the rings and how they were distributed amongst the various inhabitants of Middle Earth.
In a press statement about the series, co-showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay stated their desire was to come up with a title that “could live on in the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics.”
They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, co-executive producer and director Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Brändström, and producer Christopher Newman.
